About the Park

Railroad Park is a 19 acre green space in downtown Birmingham that celebrates the industrial and artistic heritage of our great city. Situated along 1st Avenue South, between 14th and 18th Streets, the park is a joint effort between the City of Birmingham and the Railroad Park Foundation. Hailed as "Birmingham's Living Room," Railroad Park provides a historically rich venue for local recreation, family activities, concerts, and cultural events, while connecting Birmingham's downtown area with Southside and UAB's campus.

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Our caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in- class coaching, communication and curriculum. Our coaches are the best-trained in the business. Our expert-approved curriculum is age-appropriate for ages 2-5 and aligns with childhood education standards. SWITCHED TO A VIRTUAL EVENT

The Race to Cure Sarcoma - Birmingham, AL will now be held as a VIRTUAL event. The Race to Cure Sarcoma is the premier run/walk series in the United States focused on raising awareness and research funds for sarcoma. Sarcoma patients, survivors, their friends and loved ones come together as a community to support innovative research for better treatments and an end to sarcoma. The Race to Cure Sarcoma also creates awareness for the disease and helps to promote a sense of community amongst those whose lives have been impacted by sarcoma.

Red Shoe Run: Rockin' 5K & 1 Mile Walk

Red Shoe Run: Rockin’ 5K and 1 Mile Walk, presented by McDonald’s, is an annual celebration of family, fundraising and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.All money raised through the Red Shoe Run stays at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham to keep families together at a time when it’s needed most. Special awards are handed out to the top individual fundraiser, the top fundraising team, the most spirited team and the largest team. Team perks include a complimentary team sign, VIP seating and a Team Roll Call during our awards ceremony.Race will begin and end at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.

Ecstatic Dance Bham

Location: The Meadow near 16th Street.   Ecstatic dance is freeform movement, with the beat as your guide. Wear comfy clothes, bring a bottle of water and an open mind, and prepare to let your body move the way it desires. Feel free to pause and rest on the sidelines, enjoying the beautiful sunset at Railroad Park, then rejoin the dance again. At the closing of the event, we will pause in remembrance and celebration for those that can no longer join us in this dance of life, an opportunity to celebrate as a Birmingham community those we have lost. Led by organizer and meditation guide, Alexis Unger and DJ and storyteller through music, Wil Ledbetter (aka Illvis).
